Help! Can you purchase travel insurance after you have left your home country?
June 13, 2009 – 12:08 am | by admin
I am an Australian in Canada and my travel insurance ran out 7 days ago. My insurer will not extend my policy as it has been more than 48hrs since it lapsed, and they won't issue a new policy because I have already left the country. Does anyone know of an insurance company that will offer cover after you have already left home?

Hello, Kat. Here is your solution. You can get great coverage from the industry leader and it can go into effect tomorrow. It does not matter that you are not at home. You can get a quote and buy the coverage over the Internet. It will cover you anywhere you go outside your home country, Australia. Of course, if something has happened during the time you were not covered, that will be excluded. Go to http://www.wavehelp.com/travel-medical/index.htm and click on the red phone booth next to TravelGuard. Read about "Worldwide Health" insurance and buy on-line if it suits you. The policy covers health issues and trip interruption issues as well.
I hope you are enjoying your trip - aren't Canadians great!
Best wishes.
